Brenham-based Blue Bell Ice Cream is teasing a new flavor to be released on Thursday.
Texans might just get the ice cream of their dreams with Blue Bell Ice Cream teasing a new flavor that has all the subtle hints of a Lone Star State-made soda.
Blue Bell, a Brenham-founded company, last weekend started teasing on social media a new flavor it has added to its repertoire. The mystery ice cream is set to be released in stores Thursday.
The hints dropped so far have included two posts featuring a root beer float glass. And the last post said more details are set to drop Tuesday at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
In the comments, sleuthy Sherlock-type Texans have guessed a Dr Pepper flavor.
Solidifying their guess even more, the 10 a.m. hint posted to the Blue Bell Facebook and Instagram stories said: “Two iconic brands, one delicious ice cream flavor.”
But the time of the drops at 10, 2 and 4 was the big giveaway a Dr Pepper flavor could be on the way. Those who have been to the Dr Pepper Museum in Waco or have seen the old-timey commercial and bottles know the numbers are greatly associated with the soda. Dr Pepper’s first-ever bottle had the numbers and the first slogan was, “Drink a bite to eat at 10, 2, and 4!”
Two Texas companies possibly coming together has people excited, at least in the Facebook comments. Replies to the post included, “Dr Pepper flavor. Sounds amazing. At least I’m hoping this.”
At least one commenter brought another iconic Texas brand into the conversation: “Hope this will be as good as the shake from Whataburger!”
